It Didn't Look That Big in the Shop....

After a ridiculously busy two weeks I felt in need of a little cheering up.

I had been eyeing a large mirror in the window of the charity shop, which, I decided, would look perfect in the loft, and, undeterred by the chest of drawers fiasco, I went in and bought it.

It took two assistants to get the mirror out of the window, and it quickly became clear that I wouldn't be able to carry it on my own.

I nipped back to get The Fixer, and we set off. The fact that we had to be rescued by Jim next-door-but-one will give you some idea of the size of the mirror.

We hauled it up to the loft between us, propped it up and took a step back.

The Fixer: God, Mum, it's MASSIVE! Why do you always have to buy the biggest thing in the shop?

Me: Do you think your father will notice it?

The Fixer: Maybe not, if he comes home REALLY REALLY drunk............and if he's been struck partially blind in the Mare and Foal this afternoon..........

In other news, we are now officially a house made up entirely of double figures.

The Noise is ten today.

Happy Birthday, Little One.

Well if the FoTL looks in the mirror he will be seeing double. If he is REALLY REALLY drunk he might see treble or more...
Nah. He won't notice. He'll just think he is drunk. ;0)

Hope the Noise has a great day - and you too.

Didn't this happen with a dresser too? I love looking in on your life. You make mine look calm and serene which is almost never is.
Great story well told Mother....

Happy Birthday to The Noise.

As for the mirror, well as long as YOU notice it, that is the main thing.
I just love large mirrors. They can lighten a darkish place!
Hope the Father of This Lot doesn't walk into it though, on one of his trips back from The Mare & Foal!

At least you could actually get it up the stairs!
Happy Birthday to Noise!

Being a fairly new reader of your blog, I'm not quite sure why you have a mirror (and a chest of drawers?) in your loft - I'm guessing you must use it as a work room, or something. Our loft is purely a repository for things the paterfamilias can't bear to throw out and I've banished from the house!
Hope you had a great family birthday celebration with your youngest.

Happy Birthday to your littlest one ... crumbs, the hormones raging in your house must make life 'interesting'! :-O

Have you actually got the mirror up on the wall yet? Or is it just leaning against one?

Happy Birthday to The Noise.

If you like the mirror that's all that matters my hubby never notices anything new and that's sober -a distinct advantage sometimes :)

Happy, happy birthday to The Noise! And congrats on your new mirror. I did the same thing last week with an antique table, but I haven't picked it up yet. I want it to just "appear" while my hubby is out. But I have no idea how I will make that happen, as it is oak, and quite heavy. :-)

I hope her birthday was wonderful! I also hope the mirror is still standing! I love how impulsive you are. I think you should zip over to NY to take me shopping. That would sort out any hesitation I have with making a purchase or two.

Oh! And we could meet up with Daryl and lose ourselves in the NYC markets that she keeps talking about....bliss! We'd just have to make sure the plane taking you home had a big enough hold for your extra-large purchases.

hi there people. I'm really into shoes and I have been looking for that exact make. The prices for the velcros were about 220 bucks everwhere. But for all I found this area selling them as a remedy for half price. I really love those gucci sneakers. I will probably buy those. what can you say about it?
