No pictures, please

I have been inundated with requests (well, two actually) to post pictures of the family. When I started this blog I promised them that I wouldn't use their real names or photographs (and believe me, these kids have had enough broken promises from the Father of This Lot for me to chip in as well)!

Instead, we have spent some time (that's four hours of my life I won't get back) making Meez avatars. We started off with 2500 clothes points, but with hindsight I realise I should not have let the Football Fanatic dress herself first, as the remaining five of us now look like we have been kitted out from the charity shop.

Unfortunately for The Fixer and The Noise, the Meez site has temporarily gone down 'to install some upgrades' so we'll have to check back later to see what's new. It won't matter, because we can't afford anything anyway.

Worryingly, this lot have told me that my Meez is extremely lifelike.

Even more worryingly, I find myself agreeing with them. (Now there's a sentence I thought I'd never type).

Oooh I love the avatars! They are fabulous. (is your waist really that tiny!!) I too don't post pics of my kids, because they don't want me too and to be honest, I don't actually want too, what with the stories you hear about people taking pictures from the internet. It is just something I would rather not do at the minute. Your avatars bring you all to life wonderfully well though.

Funny, I just did a post on almost exactly the same issue! Great minds DO think alike!!! Love your avatars, too. We had a blast...particularly with our last one. The girls are crushed that we did not give Daddy (Mr. Conservative) the "Goth" makeup...

I was looking at your kitchen!

Thanks for your advice on yesterdays post. I'd already thought about that one, but I have four kids coats to put on too, we'd look a bit daft! I think she'd probably ask to wait anyway! lol

She never calls on Fridays or over the weekend. I can breathe till then.

Have a great weekend...

Aren't they lovely! I wouldn't like to put real photos on a blog. This is an excellent way to bring them to life.
Love to read about your family. Love your blogs. Wish I could put pictures into mine, but have only recently learnt how to do this blogging stuff.

Thanks for comment on my blog. I wouldn't have known what an avatar was a year ago, this blogging thing is really catching on.

I too love your avatars- how cool are they! My teenage kids would be mortified if I named them or showed pictures- and I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it, you never know whose looking at them. Besides, we don't want the world and his wife to know everything about us!! So I really agree with your post.

Thanks for your messages over the last few days, you have kept a smile on my face, I can tell you! I really miss being able to blog properly and reply and comment while travelling...I'll have a lot of catching up to do when I get home.

I think you make a very wise choice in not posting pics of the fam. I think people forget sometimes that there is little or no filter on who can view blogs. Personally, I always make certain the dogs tags are blurred out - you never know.

I absolutely love the graphics you find. I'm crazy about those retro women saying bitchy things, but you find much better ones than I do.

Fabulous!

And the avatars are cool, too.

i totally agree with you on the anonymity. i have posted photos of my kids but will not identify their names or locations (other than very vague ideas of such). i've just never felt right about being too personal online...we have a cousin working at the US dept. of justice with internet issues & he is pretty adament that children should stay anon with blogs & myspace etc...if anyone thinks otherwise, they should hear his stories.
