A Word of Warning

Never, ever download a game from the internet to keep the kids amused during their school holidays.

Especially not this game:

...which you have to keep on for twenty four hours a day to make sure all the pesky little villagers have got food and shelter and are not dying of some tropical disease.

Oh, sure, it will keep the kids quiet. It will keep them out of your hair. In fact you won't see them for hours on end.

BUT - it will tie your computer up for days at a time, meaning you can't write any blog posts, read any blog posts or comment on any blog posts until at least one o'clock in the morning.

By which time, quite frankly, you're too tired to care.

Roll on Monday.

LOL

I have my computer to myself since all the kids have fled the house, have houses of their own and computers and kids, and my husband hasn't touched a computer since he retired.

Back in days gone by I couldn't get my tun on the Atari, though. (I'm old.)

Nice. Now you've tempted this boy - I may not be back for days

That sounds vaguely familiar except in this house it is called "E-bay for car parts" and E-bay for kids (and adult too at times) clothing, two "my space" accounts, a "CafePress Mom" account with several links to mothers with children with autism, and then try to fit in one old lady with a simple blog and lots of e-mail correspondence, which all means, really, there is a severe need for at least one other computer, maybe even two. However, since the finances aren't there for even an old used second computer, it's just a fight for the chair and keyboard now!
Peace!

You know what you need, don't you? You need your OWN poota! If TFOTL is still in the mood, get him to take a look at budget laptop prices ;-)

Now I know why you have been absent for a few days :)

I can sympathize - my kids use my computer so much that I had to get a laptop.

So glad you are back! I hope this doesn't mean the villagers are starving . . . ;-)

Get them onto Ikariam instead. Almost nothing happens for ages, so it's easy to switch off and wait for the money to come rolling in!

Now you've got to feel responsible for virtual children too?!

That's okay the hubby convinced me to play FIFA Soccer on the XBOX 360 last evening.

"You want to play again?" asks The Dude who just won for the second time.

"My thumb hurts . . . okay, one more time. Which goal is mine?"

OY ... I hope none of 'your' villagers contracted any diseases from the strangers/aliens in their midst.

Thank goodness Husband who was given Myst has never cared to actually play it .. I understand it too is very addictive...

Noooo I want to know what the FOTL is after!! Tell those children I'll be around there to smack their leggies if they don't let you go on the computer more.

Funny. My hubby downloaded a game on my computer at home, and now he's ALWAYS in my office. When we bought the house we carefully divided up zones (we're all about zones). He got the giant den with a fireplace in the back and I got the spare bedroom to make into an office/library. But now, he gets the den AND my office. So unfair.

I kind of know what you mean. My son just bought a playstation 3 and his is online all the time that he is home. I can not get on my computer because it "slows his game down". He has left for the evening so I rush to get caught up. Great post!

Induces total addiction, then?

Hi Jackie, I'm glad your OK. I don't need a game like that, I have Bob, he hogs the computer all of the time! Pud x

Sorry! Me again! It's my birthday (7th June) and I'm having a 1950s virtual birthday party. You are very welcome to call by, if you have the time!

Surely its bad for their eyes and bad for your nerves. There is some very irritating music in the background to this game!
Ah! I get it! YOU are playing too!

We threw two computers away when we were decluttering and now my laptop is loaded with irritating boys' games that have slowed it down massively. I'm wiping them off.

Think of me this coming week. My three kids finished school for the entire summer and, in a moment of maternal something or other, I decided to let them have a week lolling around before forcing them into camp activities. Aagh!

Actually that's a relief.. to know you are ok and just banned from your own computer! lol

I am struggling to keep up but that is because real life takes over. How dare it!

Kimmie said...

Wow, Jackie, they must have really hi-jacked the computer...are you tied up and need rescuing?
