Up On T'Moors

Today I have accompanied Year 5B on a school trip to Castleshaw, a picturesque little valley nestling within the Saddleworth Moors.

I think I can say without fear of contradiction that you have only experienced a similar feeling of cold to that found on the Saddleworth Moors in winter if you have previously holidayed in Anchorage, Alaska. Or possibly Lapland. You get the picture?

And quite whose bright idea it was to take a party of 26 nine-year-olds pond dipping and fell-walking in November, I have yet to establish.

But I will!

Just checked our local forecast as No.2 is playing football on Saturday ... it says heavy snow for Sunday :-O

You can't beat a good school trip, can you? (That was a rhetorical question). x

So that's why you're in a mood and moaning just because a clock is an hour out! I blame central heating!

A cold, bleak place in November. Can't think why they didn't do it a couple of months ago.

Hope you are nice and toasty now.

You could always move to Texas. ;-)

omygoodness I do believe you will! Woe betide that teacher or whoever organised that...

Saddleworth Moor always seems so cold and bleak to me because of the Moors murderers more than anything else. It's a shame such a potential beauty is spoiled by those memories. I am sure that is why many of us (in UK and of a certain age range) feel its bleakness....

Sending kind thoughts to the designer of that trip!

Gosh, have always wanted to go to Saddleworth Moors. But you're right - whoever co-ordinated that one should be demoted!

No-one realises how tiring those school trips are!!

Isn't there a Roman Road across the moor - I think I remember that from a school trip of my own, many years ago. (In summer, I hasten to add!)

Geography teachers, without a doubt. I don't think they feel the cold at all and they feel compelled to share their fascination with cold, wet places with others. I speak from experience.

Or tried to blog in a campground in south east Utah in November.
