Better Late Than Never

I know I'm inexcusably late, but the truth is, I haven't been able to get near this computer ALL weekend.

The Singer and The Peacemaker spent most of Saturday sending incomprehensible messages on MSN, while The Fixer...well, who knows what she does on here? Probably something to do with MI5 and a Russian in a trilby, and very possibly a threat to national security.

For the whole of Sunday MY (did your hear that kids?) MY computer was transformed into an editing suite for the Football Fanatic's latest university assignment - as usual, given out weeks ago and left till the last minute (the last minute being two o'clock this morning).

AND THEN, the Father of This Lot stayed lastnight and has been here ALL day. He has just gone off to work, so here I am. At last. I've missed you.

Anyway, here is my week in pictures:

This lot's idea of 'helping your mother':

My beloved city after the Billy Boys trashed it:

I haven't been to town myself, but the Football Fanatic likened it the next day to 'walking through a cess-pit'. She had stepped over bodies on her way to work in the morning, and apparently the smell (the streets having been used as a public urinal) was really something to behold.

The Peacemaker had her SATs week, and the school provided a free Breakfast Club for them to 'ease them into each day'. Thanks. It just meant we had to be out even earlier than usual.

Still, at least it meant I had more time for cleaning. And the house was done by Friday. Honest.

Pity you missed it.

Oh great you're back! They made a mess of our beloved Manchester didn't they? :(

Glad you got it all ship shape eventually.

Jackie, have you tidied the whole of Manchester over the weekend? Poor you! It's so lucky I'm from the Pool, no tidying everything is nicked ! Pud x Welcome back.

I love the way you match your hair bow to your ruffles when you're ironing. Very chic.

It's fabulous to have you back. x

Welcome back (although I loved the previous post!)

I too am sad about the mess they made of Manchester. My sister in law had to walk to GMex to get the tram home as they couldn't run in the city for all the comatose bodies everywhere.

It wasn't like that in the Commonwealth Games, was it?

Congrats, and welcome back!

Aren't you glad you don't have to clean up the whole city?

I admire your dedication and verve. (where did that word come from? You plucked it from my subconscious, and now i'm going to have to look it up to check i've used it in context, hold on...yes, great vitality and liveliness, that's you) now i've lost track. I need to read that link, what filthy animals did that? I feel so proud to be british. The french call football hooliganism, 'la maladie anglaise' (the english illness) and they also say to be 'pete comme un anglais' (to be as pissed as an english person). What a marvellous gift we are to europe.

that is some serious cleaning up to be done... it looks like a large scale version of our front room after the kids have been in there.

That is quite a mess!

Love your week in pix! Know what you mean bout trying to get to the computer - I've been fighting it out with my youngest's obsession with her school nesting box web cam all weekend! Still, her enthusiasm is delightful. Personally, I always thought birdwatching quite dull - specially when they're just sitting on a nest! But hey, makes my life seem relatively interesting...

Agree with mess in Manchester. What a bloody disgrace. Proud to be British and all that. Pass the dustpan and brush...

Love your posts. Love the pics.
I loathe housework, so I try to avoid it at all costs. Course the kids have gone, & I dont have that mess to contend with! LOL.

Ah, the satisfaction of a well-cleaned house. For an infinitesimal moment. Enjoy it.

Boy, can I ever relate to the problems of vying for computer time! Between my son-in-law and his love of surfing e-bay for car parts, the 16-year-old with her fads and crazes that go along with My Space and then, my daughter, who has, in the past couple of months now discovered "cafepress Moms" -especially one group there consisting of mothers of autistic children -I have a whole lot of competition to weed through so I can read my favs and then, hopefully, if a stroke of genius hits me, maybe even be able to muster up a post too! The best time for me to do this appears to be between 10-11 p.m. and 3 a.m.!

I love your illustrations. You know I imagine you look like that now. It is deeply entrenched on my brain!
Hope you have time for a little rest!

Well done for resisting temptation. I hope the house is sparkling like a new pin and that your lot don't trash it too quickly.

You are to be commended for your tenacity to get things done!

Fortunately or unfortunately, I married a computer geek and therefore, we have three in the house . . . meaning I rarely have to wait to take a turn.

Glad you're back!!

Those housewives look so happy in the pictures, like the Stanford wives.

Is FF going to Moscow for the match between Chelsea and Manchester United?

Your week in pictures is most inspiring. The minute I leave work I am going to rush home and bake up a storm, put on my highest heels and scrub that toilet till it shines.

I'm so glad you've repossessed your own computer. Your blog is a riot.

i married a computer geek too, but he builds computers, so no=one ever really has to wait!

Fun illustations as always, but I'm quite shocked by the photo of your town after the football debacle. How awful. As renae said - lucky you don't have to clean that up too!
