The Final Countdown

Twenty four hours and twenty minutes to go.

The biggest football match in the world.

No pressure.

The Football Fanatic and myself have been locked in a war of words for the last two weeks.

Her: You do realise EVERYONE in the world is going to Moscow except me, don't you?
Me: It'll be packed then won't it?
Her: MUM! It's not fair! WHY can't I go?
Me: a) You can't afford it
b) It's not the safest place in the world
c) I would be dead of some stress-related illness before you got back, and
d) (and this is the big one) I am too scared of you opening your mouth and ending up in
some Siberian jail.
Her: But I'm nineteen!
Me: I don't care how old you are. You're not going.
Her: IT'S NOT FAIR!
Me: Stick around, kiddo. It doesn't get much better with age.

Tell her to resanctify Town after what those Rangers fans did to it.

she'll thank you later for this..maybe not right now, but definitely later lol it's amazing how grown up teens think they really are. nothing compared to the reality, eh? :)

Well I'm another one that isn't going! In fact none of us are!!!!!!
Teenagers think NOTHING can happen to them. That's the problem! You are right!

Isn't it a little early for the Super Bowl?

Oh, wait! You're talking about the other football, aren't you?

Hmmm! I went to Moscow, once. Wouldn't want to go back, again, no matter what was happening there, to be honest. I'm with you, on this one.

Teenagers are easily aggravated. My eldest lad is 25, though. I don't know what his excuse is.

I saw a really scary picture of the inside of a Russian prison cell~ it was horrendous. If there's trouble I imagine they just round up everyone in sight even the innocent~ better to watch it on the tv~ I know I'm a killjoy!

Hmmm. I seem to recall asking my mother for some really out-of-range things way back in the dark age, also recall my own three kids from time to time requesting some things not near within my budget and my Mom -and I -both used pretty much the same logic in response to those items as you used. So evidently you, my Mom and I are really bright women, thoroughly logical mothers too. Right?

You are so right about teenagers! I am no sport fan, so cannot see the attraction, haha.
However, I do remember being forbidden to go to a New Years Eve in another town. Thankgoodness my mother forbade me!!

I've been to Russia and there are more places inappropriate for a 19-year-old than not. Good for you for protecting your daughter by not letting her go!

My newspaper says they are expecting trouble. The Russans have waived the visa permit for anyone who has a ticket for the game.

Hey have you been eavesdropping at my place. I have had so many of those conversations. Love the saying. How true

I will be watching the game with a Liverpool fan and a Chelsea Fan. I'm a neutral - as far as I can see, us neutrals are in a win/win situation: I just want a British team to win the European Championship!
