Just thought....

.....you might like to see where I am when I'm not here. (A bit of a cheat because I am completely out of things to say).

Anyway, this has been my parish church since I was a little girl. I got married here, my children were baptised here and my dad was buried here.

I think it's the nicest church I've ever been in...but then, I may be biased!

Main body of the church:

The mosaic above the altar contains one million pieces:

Windows in the Lady Chapel:

The Sacred Heart Chapel:
(the chairs are in there because there was a wedding on Saturday and the couple play in a brass band, which performed at the wedding. Obviously, they were two memebers short that day)

The narthex window:

Sometimes, all that church cleaning seems worth it.

Stained glass windows are beautiful aren't they? Thanks for sharing that with us. x

Your church is, indeed, beautiful! I'm with Kitty too in that I also love stained glass windows. (Our church has several in it and I think it adds so much to not just the beauty of the building but to the serenity as well.

Lovely. I'd love to sing there.

If your church is raising funds for a charity (and what catholic church isn't?)and wishes to hold a fundraising concert contact us via our website (link on my blog). We've done several concerts for other churches in the region. They raise money and we get an audience - perfect!

It looks a bit Wythenshawish: somewhere in South Manchester that's still in Salford and not in Shrewsbury but only just. The sort of place where they get buried somewhere other than Moston. Down southish. Posh: "we never lived in Collyhurst". "Most of us live in Cheshire now." Nice, though.

Absolutely lovely .. but of course being the irreverent soul I am I couldnt help thinking that mosaic was a killer to put together .. I imagined the arguments over which piece went where .. 'start with the edges .. look for the straight pieces' .. sorry

I must post pics of our Church. It's bigger but just as beautiful.

As for where the bar is in these places, come to Mass and see for yourself! Only the Boss gets the wine...

What a beautiful place to worship. I hate that so many Protestant churches over here are going "multi-functional." I love steeples, myself... and pews, and pulpits, and stained glass. If I want starbucks, I'll hit starbucks. When I want church, I'm craving trascendence, you know what I mean?

It's a rare blessing to have ROOTS. There is nothing like a church family, a real, functioning church family, warts and all. When we moved here 7 years ago, I left that, myself, and it was the first thing we sought after finding a house. Thankfully, we found it - and my kids will hopefully call it "home" for years to come.

Thanks for sharing your lovely church with us! Beautiful!! Now that I'm armed with a digital camera, I may post pics of the inside of our parish church (we have two on this military base), but I mean the one that has daily Mass and the Sunday 12:15. It's quaint compared to the 9am Sunday Mass chapel. Still, when I need a lovely place to go for Mass, I have the Basilica in D.C. and the Basilica to Mother Seton in Emmittsburg (it's lovely, too).

Bless you!!

Those windows are beautiful! Well worth the photos. And I am glad you are "stuck for words" and "cheated" (not that you did in my book) because then we got these photos. Love the last one.

And your comment at mine - you mean... you guessed? Is my secret safe with you? (Just call me Duchess)

Beautiful and inspiring windows and mosaic. A current concern in parish council has been what to do about our windows. They are quite plain, though some have colored glass. The problem is that they are loose. I was in taking care of a bulletin board in the foyer last week during a wind. I realized what everyone was talking about.

Awesome windows. Sometimes church windows just look like muddy puddles. Those are beautiful.

Do you mean you clean the church as well as everything else? Crikey! (My three year old is hypnotised by your girls' cartoons. Right now I wish he was a cartoon too!)

It's beautiful Jackie! I love the light coloured walls and the pale blue on the ceiling as much as I love the stained glass windows. What a peaceful place it must be.

How lovely to have roots..to have such a history with this one church! For my uncle's funeral, we were back at my grandparents church, the one where they are buried and the one that I went to as a child. It was very comforting to go back after so long, and find it still unchanged.

I'm glad to back here:) I'm just relieved to see that The Football Fanatic hasn't taken up American (football, that is) and that The singer didn't enter the Eurovision Contest.

What a lovely bright church. All the churches I went to were very old and rather dull. No sunlight. Stopped going long ago. Flick x

Lovely - and very clean - church.

Narthex is such an odd word. Can't decide if I like it or not. Your narthex is a lot nicer than ours.

Beautiful stained glass. Thanks for sharing it with us.
