Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (and all points before or since)

Two days.

Solid.

Every item of clothing in the house. Even those which have languished in remote corners for months on end.

Times the iron was refilled with water: 41

Unwanted items sent to charity: 2 bin bags......of course I ironed them first....what sort of housewife do you think I am?

Space made in various rooms: Acres

Remaining wardrobe space: Nil

'Lost' PE kits found: 4

Help offered by the Father of This Lot: 'Oh, are you ironing? I may as well go and see if there's anyone in the Mare and Foal then......'

Amount of backbreaking pain: Off the scale

Level of personal satisfaction: Priceless

the last time i ironed one of dig's shirts i managed to iron parts of a chocolate bar into it. i had forgotten i had left that on the ironing board. this was enough to convince me i am a bad ironer. (but an excellent chocolate eater.)

Oh yes, i've ironed a mountain of things today. What happened to the Day of Rest?

I have always been of the mentality that the best way to iron something is to put it on!!

I'm a crap housewife!

But you must feel great having done all that clearing. I always do.

Enjoyment quotient of this post: OVER THE TOP.

I'm coming over with my laundry. I'm sure you'll come up with a clever post about that too. After you've ironed my underwear.

I remember ironing since I was 8years old-my father would pay us for it- so it was one way of earning pocket money. Now here in Chennai India the 'iorning man' has his dilapidated make shift cart with 'iorn'at every turn of the street.

The Mare and Foal sounds like an attractive alternative! It was very nice of you to do all the ironing and let him have the evening off.

I take my hat off to you because ironing is the one job I detest. In fact I had to wear a hideous skirt and scratchy tights to work today but I'm such a lazy arse I hadn't ironed any trousers to wear.
