Is there a Doctor in the House?

Guess where I've been today? The doctors. For the sixth time in six weeks. When they have the place redecorated, they're going to consult me on my choice of wallpaper.

We've rung the changes today, though. Not only do we have a new sick child - The Singer - we now have, after various strains of flu, ear infection and sinus trouble - The Infected Toe.

An infected toe is what you get when you find a manicure set that someone got for Christmas, and without informing your Mother, you clip your nail. When you have clipped the nail too short and your school tights become attached to it, there is a strong possibility that when you take them off, they will rip the nail further.
If you have ever done this you will know that when you do finally decide to mention in passing to your Mother that your foot is sore, it will resemble that of the largest living land animal and a band of redness will be creeping towards your ankle, giving out enough heat to cook a roast dinner for six people.

Quite honestly, I feel like crying. However, years of marriage to the Father of This Lot have ensured that I am made of much sterner stuff.

I will do what I always do:

I had an infection in my big toe once too when I was about the same age as "The Singer." No clue as to what caused it though. But boy, I do remember it hurt like all get out and I had one hell of a high fever too.

Hope it mends quickly! I had my ingrown nails (both big toes) removed TWICE!! I was preggers the second time, too. Uff dah!

Is there a patron saint for sore feet/toes?

Oh, bless your heart. Why is it always something with kids? Moms sure do get the short end of it.

Hope it heals fast and that you manage to stay away from the doctors for longer than a week.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating - I. Love. Your. Graphics.

You deserve a medal. Not just for being a Mum, but for keeping us entertained.

A friend of mine took her daughter to the doctor y'day. The little girl has tennis elbow. Doesn't play tennis, though. She was playing the Wii!!

I have a copy of that poster hanging in my bathroom. :)

I hope the Infected Toe heals quickly.

Ooh that does sound painful, and exasperating for you. My son once tried to cut his thumb nail with a pen knife. Result = a cut 1cm deep halfway through his thumbnail, a high-speed dash to casualty, and a big bandaged up thumb for many weeks after. It healed okay though. I wish your happy-snippy offspring better.

I'm sorry to hear the news.

Feet up on the sofa for the day with an endless supply of reading material, a plate of cookies and a hot chocolate....

No, I'm prescribing that for you. As for the infected big toe, can you get a replacement at Marks and Spencers? They sell everything apparently.

Hope she gets better soon :)

I had an infected toe once when I was abuot 8. I remember there was a lot of pain and a trip to the podiatrist (who happened to be my 2nd cousing) and I vaguely remember needles....Hopefully all is well there soon!

That's great! I so love the royal banner. It's so very British and all that. ;)

I think I need it.

What a stretch you've had! SURELY, surely better times are a'comin'. Hang on!

Oh no! ((HUGS)) to you, my dear Mother!! And some shortbread with your tea, of course.

I had both big toes worked on after having each of my girls (after the swollen feet recovered, the nail beds were not ready to receive visitors!). OUCH! Nothing like injections in the feet - horribly tender. I managed to escape it with the boy.

Oddly enough, my beloved just had toe surgery this past week...after concealing the awful truth for quite some time. (Stoic Marine thing). Then our lummox of a 10 year old dog (aka, the Golden Retard) stepped on his foot, and he got this terrible look on his face that said "Do I faint, cry, or throw up?" which immediately had me on alert. (I will not recount what I saw, or the prescribed shortbread will lose its appeal.) With the arsenal of antibiotics he received, he should be able to survive just about any disease now.

Do hang in there. It will pass...

Oh my gosh, I cringed when I read about that infected toe. Poor thing.

I finally acknowledged the award you gave me. I'm sorry it took me so long.

I can't stand to think about that manicure set, that nail cut too close, the tights sticking to it. Honestly, it makes me cringe.
