Night of a Thousand Stars

Well, we made it - Joint Winner of the 2008 Cannonball Catholic Blog Awards!

As a special thank you for voting, I'd like to invite all of you to the Awards Ceremony.

You'll have to be quick - I'm being picked up in half an hour. I imagine it will be in something like this:

Now, I'm sending cars for all of you - just stand outside the front door. The drivers know who to look out for. I can't promise which car you'll get though. It could be this one:

Or perhaps this one:

Then again, it could be this one:

There will be refreshments available en route. However, if you are in the same car as Grit, try and keep her away from this will you:

I don't like to speak ill of people, but this week, her alcohol units have exceeded her calorie count.

Make sure you are properly dressed for the occasion, because this is where we headed:

If you look really closely, you can see Daryl and Bella waving. They're a little bit upset because they didn't get a car - they had to make their own way there.

Ronaldo's been on the phone all morning, pestering the life out of me to come with us. Of course, I had to say no. He's far too young, I don't trust any of you lot with him and anyway, he's got an away match against Blackburn tomorrow.

Poor lad, he did look a bit crestfallen when he finally realised I meant it.

And anyway I was thinking more along the lines of:

Hmmm...perhaps I'd better stick with The Father of This Lot.....

....although hang on - it's Friday night. He won't give up The Star Inn for an evening in New York.

And you'll NEVER guess who's giving the awards out.......

Well, I suppose he thought since he was there anyway.....

See you there!

Now, where's that mantilla? I last used it about 1965.......

(I'm sure I was never this daft till I started this blogging lark)

Love it, love it, love it! I'll take the first car and the second man thanks (all to myself of course). I need a night out.

Congratulations by the way!

Why is there a dented Toyota in my driveway?

Congrats.

Congratulations, your accolades are well deserved.

Sorry to Ronaldo, maybe you could have let football fanatic take him. Then you and George could have doubled with them.

Save me a spot. I'm on my way.

So sorry Brad, didn't I mention it was girls only?

Unless you look like George Clooney or Ronaldo, of course. Maybe then we can deal.....

Kitty said...

Erm excuse me, but I think you'll find George has lots and lots of prior engagements avec moi so you'll have to take the child that is Ronaldo with you.

(I post on a forum and am well known there for my George fetish ;-) )

Phew! Just got here - Been here - went to see if you'd won - got side tracked - came back and you're leaving in.... darn! You've gone? I'll have the shoe car and I'll look after the bubbly. (I'll find a male New Yorker if you're fighting over George and Ronaldo's banned). Anyone one got Harrison Ford's number?

HOLD THE PLANE!!!! I'm on me way!!!

Congratulations. Well deserved.

Congratulations~enjoy your award! I'll join you for a glass of bubbly anytime!

Congratulations!

Oh no, I can't come to the ceremony, I've not got a babysitter! Damn!

Just putting on my manolos. I'll be right with you. I'll be the one falling out the back of the stretch limo.

Congratulations on winning! Joint award - forget that. You take it and run. Run I say, run!

Brilliant! You won! Brilliant blog, too! Love the picture of the Pope. Very clever.

Right. I'm ready. Who's the horse and cart for, then? Oh, thanks a bunch!!

Mean Mom said...

PS What does Brad look like? Is he short, with a thickening waistline and flecks of grey in his hair? He's the one for me then. Does he want to share my horse and cart?

You crack me up! Priceless. I'll be waiting tonight - don't forget -but you'll have to send a plane, I'm afraid. A car isn't gonna cut it, not even if it's shaped like a shoe.

I'll take George. He's very handsome but way too cool for his own good... I think he needs to come chill out with us down here in the south awhile.

Congratulations! You deserve it, you highfreakinglarious blogger, you. Good description...

Kitty, I hope we're not going to have the indignity of a cat-fight. Or even a kitty-fight. This is a posh do, you know. And I think the Pope's looking at you. Do try and behave.

Cath, you made it! Just in time. Now you're here, keep your eye on that Kitty. Look at her - edging up the table towards George.

Chris b, Glass? Have a bottle.

Working Mum, I am becoming concerned. This is two parties you've missed now because you didn't have a babysitter. I think you may be turning into a hermit.

Sass-e-mum, right, when he hands me and the other winner the award, I'll grab it and lob it across to you. You need to leg it out of the door and hide it in a bin in the alley at the side of the building. We'll pick it up later and there's a drink in it for you.

Mean Mom, shh...don't tell anyone else, but Brad....he's left Angelina and the kids at home to be here tonight.

KITTY! Don't do that!

I like the shoe car thing!
Well done to you!!!

I've been out on my porch waiting for an hour and a half. Where is my driver? Oh, and I hope you brought a shawl or something, because you and I are wearing the same dress . . .

Oh, your mantilla is probably long enough to cover part of your dress . . . maybe no one will notice . . .

Congratulations! Just one question tho - where do you find the energy with 5 girls?? (who sound fab by the way - love your descriptions). I have 3 and I'm constantly exhausted! Just booking a table at the local pub is enough for me to have to go and have a lie down in anticipation...!
Ps, I'll take The Shoe please, then perhaps Prince Charming will be able to come find me later..

Jen, A PLANE? I don't think so. You'll just have to rough it in a limo like the rest of us. And I think you'll find there's a queue for George.

Jennie, there's no need to hide. Kitty is quite harmless. Well, almost.

Renae, you made it! Sorry about the wait. Come and have a brandy to warm yourself up. I'm a little disappointed now that I showed you the dress. I really didn't think you'd go out and buy the exact same one. Go and sit in the corner. Oh, and Renae, STOP trying to convert the Pope. He's not interested.

Her on the Hill, Energy? No, not me. Auto-pilot most of the time. I'm afraid Prince Charming isn't here, and George appears to be otherwise engaged. I know, I'll give you the number of the Star Inn, where I'm virtually certain that, behind locked doors, you'll find the Father of This Lot. He'll have to do.

I am running to the car as we speak with many bags of chips (crisps??) and gallons of dip.

Congratulations!!!! It's PARTAY time!

Woo Hoo. A party for a queen!
But akkk! I think I'm late again! Am I? Am I? Can I still come? I got a little busy, you know. But I'm waiting oh so patiently....... taps foot....... whistles......... hums........ no limo yet........ still waiting........ well, just shove me in the next handy chariot.......with whomever has the chocolate...... and the laughter.....and maybe George or Brad..... I'll go with that lot.

Grit said...

Congratulations!!!

The Pope was not only watching me but commented on my blog :-O I was a tad surprised, to say the least.

George, however, calmed me down nicely :-p x

Akelamalu said...

Oh well done! If Ronaldo can't make it I'll take George!

Cath said...

Did yo remember Kitty's medication? She's deluded again. Call the medics!

Maggie May said...

Congratulations! Don't let it go to your head mind!

Renae said...

Well, I should have taken your advice. I tried to get him to become Protestant, but he just smiled and gifted me with some lovely rosary beads.

I'll take the shoe, no, don't push. It's not nice and there is room for everyone. You can borrow my mantilla if you like. Haven't worn it for yonks. Hope the moths haven't had it. Flick x

Hi and many congratulations - but so disappointed as I waited outside for my car, and had to give up and go somewhere else in the end. I bet you had more fun! Do we get to hear the skinny on what actually happened? M xx
